FNSS PARS III 8×8 Armored Medical Evacuation (Tıbbi Tahliye Arac) vehicle is the medical evacuation variant of PARS FoV’s which is currently in service with two countries. It has a capacity of carrying a driver, commander and 2 medics with 2 x stretchers and 4 x seated casualties or 8 x seated casualties without stretchers. The PARS Armored Medical Evacuation (AME) is designed to collect, evacuate and transport wounded troops, with basic first aid and medical care in low and high intensity battle fields. The PARS III 8×8 is an improved version of the original PARS 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle developed, designed and manufactured by the Turkish Company FNSS.
The PARS III 8X8 combat weight is 30,000 kg and is powered by a diesel engine. The powerpack consists of a water cooled diesel engine, coupled with a fully automatic transmission which generates a maximum road speed of up to 100 km/h. PARS III 8X8 is capable of maneuvering on a 60% vertical and 30% horizontal gradient, climbing 70 cm-high obstacles and crossing 200 cm-wide trenches. Thanks to the engine layout and favored balanced design, the vehicle has almost equal axle loads. The PARS III 8×8 is powered by EURO 3 Power Pack Compliant with NATO Single Fuel Concept coupled to a fully automatic transmission with 7 forward and 1 reverse gears.
The PARS III 8×8 has an unique design with the driver and commander at the front of the hull, the turret is mounted in the center of the roof, the troops compartment is at the rear of the hull, and the power pack is located to the rear of the driver and commander position on the left side of the hull. There is also two large hatches on the roof of the troops compartment. The PARS III 8X8 has a combat weight of 30,000 kg and has a standard protection against firing of small arms and artillery shell splinters. The hull of the vehicle can be fitted with additional armour up to the level of protection required by the user thanks to the modular design armor system.
The PARS first generation is in service in Asia and Middle East, with the PARS III, the Turkish Company FNSS clearly demonstrates that it will continue to develop this vehicle family, using latest and modern technologies in term of protection, mobility and fire power. The PARS III 8×8 has a modular design uses a modular design offering the possibility to configure the vehicle for a full range of missions and in different types of configuration. The PARS III 8X8 can be transported by military transport aircraft as A400, C17 & C5, sea, train or land. Under a contract signed in November 2015, the Turkish Company FNSS has planned to deliver 172 armoured vehicles PARS III 6×6 and 8×8 chassis in 13 variants until 2020 to armed forces of Oman.
