EXCALIBUR ARMY delivers a new DECON vehicle to the market. The EXCALIBUR ARMY DECON vehicle is designed to perform the entire decontamination of vehicles, people, armament and gear, including oversized equipment, decontamination of terrain, aircraft, buildings and various objects thanks to the use of high-reach operator platform. The vehicle is able to operate individually and also by establishing joint workplaces for team-linked decontamination. It allows manual and automated decontamination thanks to use of a spraying bar attacheble to the platform or via decontamination frame.
DECON, transportable by aircraft, is a highly mobile vehicle on a modern TATRA FORCE military chassis with a 4×4 configuration. Optionally the vehicle can be made in a 6×6 configuration which allows higher tank capacity, even higher performance or reach of the platform. In case of customer preference, the vehicle can also be equipped with an armoured cabin. DECON’s superstructure houses a hydraulic system, a water intake system with tanks, a boom lift, decontamination tools and accessories and equipment for firefighting.
Three water tanks have an accumulated capacity of 2,400 litres (634 gallons). One larger holds up to 1,000 litres (264 gallons) and two smaller tanks can contain 700 l (185 gallons) each. Eventual chemical agent is mixed with the water separately. The main operation modes of the decontamination vehicle are: high pressure cold water treatment, high pressure hot water treatment, low pressure warm water treatment, steam decontamination, liquid mix decontamination, powderized mix decontamination and auxilliary power source delivery.
The EXCALIBUR ARMY DECON employs a 4×4 chassis using the unique TATRA Concept – a central backbone tube and swinging half-axles, which features outstanding driving capabilities, primarily off-road mobility, and constant payload capacity independent on the character of operating conditions (paved roads – off road conditions). The air suspension system makes it possible for the driver to increase the clearance by 70 mm or lower the max height by 100 mm on the go.
