Russian Defence Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu discussed military cooperation with the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam, General of the Army Ngo Xuan Lich, during talks in Moscow.
The head of the Russian military Department noted that January 30 marked the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
“We have strong ties of comprehensive strategic partnership with Vietnam… during this period, we have accumulated a unique experience of working together, which is based on long — term friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation,” Sergei Shoigu said.
The special nature of relations between States, according to the head of the Russian military Department, is clearly confirmed by the cross-year of Russia and Vietnam. It runs from May 22, 2019 to May 22, 2020 and is held for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.
“We are always open to a substantive conversation about the development of our mutually beneficial military and military-technical cooperation,” Sergei Shoigu said.
In his turn, the Minister of National Defence of Vietnam congratulated his Russian counterpart on his appointment to a post in the new government.

He also thanked the Russian side for the warm welcome and noted that the talks are taking place in the year of the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Vietnam.
