General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS) designs and builds state-of-the-art individual and crew served weapons that are high-performing, reliable and lethal. Using the latest in manufacturing technologies, GD-OTS continue to innovate, refine and expand the capabilities and versatility of these combat-tested, combat-proven weapons. Ordnance and Tactical Systems manufactures M2/M2-A1 heavy machine guns and MK19/MK47 grenade launchers. GD-OTS also produce weapons systems for U.S. Navy shipboard applications and for fighter aircraft, including high-speed Gatling guns for all U.S. fixed-wing military aircraft.
The next generation Lightweight Medium Machine Gun (LWMMG) gives warfighters a distinct advantage in both extended and close-in fighting. Eliminating the gap between 7.62mm and .50 caliber weapons, the LWMMG utilizes the highly efficient .338 Norma Magnum cartridge to offer unmatched accuracy and lethality while extending the battlespace out to an impressive 1,700 meters. At 1,000 meters, the LWMMG is capable of defeating Level III body armor and incapacitating soft skinned vehicles by delivering over 1,900 foot pounds of energy to the target – more than four times the terminal effect of the 7.62mm NATO cartridge. Weighing less than 24 pounds and featuring a fully collapsible stock, the LWMMG offers superior mobility and portability in both mounted and dismounted operations.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems developed the M2A1 .50 caliber machine gun after more than 30 yeas of experience manufacturing the M2 heavy barrel (HB) machine gun for the U.S. Department of Defense. The M2A1 offers the proven performance and in-place logistics support of the existing M2HB machine gun, along with the new features and design improvements of the quick change barrel (QCB) system and flash hider. These upgrades increase the performance of the battle-proven M2 ad are adaptable to existing M2HB weapons.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems manufactures the lightweight GAU-19/B .50 caliber Gatling gun for application on a variety of air, land and sea platforms, including helicopters, fixed wing aircraft, land-based vehicles, naval vessels and high-speed patrol boats. With a rate of fire of 1,300 shots per minute, the .50 caliber GAU-19/B provides superior firepower in a lightweight system. The total system weight of the three barrel GAU-19/B is neutral to that of a single barrel machine gun.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems produces the MK19 MOD 3 40mm grenade machine gun, an air-cooled, blow-back operated, belt-fed weapon. Highly portable within small soldier units, the weapon’s high lethality and broad versatility make it the prime choice of U.S. warfighter as an essential weapon in both offensive and defensive operations. Firing M430A1 High Explosive Dual Purpose grenades, the MK19 provides lethal fire against a variety of targets, including lightly armored vehicles and dismounted infantry. It will penetrate 75mm rolled homogenous armor at a maximum range of 2,050 meters. Dismounted personnel within a radius of 15 meters from impact will be immobilized by blast and fragmentation.
General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems is the system integrator of the revolutionary STRIKER 40 MK47 40mm Advanced Lightweight Grenade Launcher. The MK47 marks the first major advancement in crew-served weapon systems since the end of World War II. Integrating the latest sensing, targeting and computer-programming technology, the MK47 is a reliable, portable 40mm grenade launcher suited for light infantry vehicles and tripod applications. The MK47 weapon system provides the warfighter with a decisive technological advantage over enemy forces equipped with older crew-served weapons. The MK47 fires all NATO standard high velocity 40mm rounds, providing devastating firepower against soft and lightly armored targets.
