Titan is a first-of-its-kind modular, hybrid, unmanned ground vehicle that provides soldier safety and support for small military dismounted operations. Developed by QinetiQ and Milrem Robotics, Titan features a multi-mission, reconfigurable platform that increases unit effectiveness while increasing soldier safety. Titan is a large Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV) that provides “lighten-the-load” support for small dismounted military operations. Unlike existing UGVs, Titan is a highly modular platform that allows different superstructures to be mounted and integrated onto the middle vehicular platform for complex missions such as rescue, transport and reconnaissance. The flexibility and versatile nature of the system not only increases efficiency, it also significantly reduces life cycle costs and soldier workload.
Milrem Robotics’ UGV was selected as one of the winners in the Autonomous Last Mile Resupply competition as part of a team lead by QinetiQ. The aim of the program is to develop autonomous systems that distribute humanitarian relief to disaster areas and deliver combat supplies from the forward-most location (such as a physical base or a logistics/infantry vehicle) to personnel engaged in combat operations. TITAN Sentry Strike is controlled remotely by a soldier using a tablet computer to plot locations on a map and can also be driven remotely by joystick. Titan Strike works alongside Titan Sentry, an unmanned observation vehicle fitted with daytime and thermal imaging cameras and an extendable mast containing radar equipment. The Sentry allows forces to identify enemy positions while remaining under cover. The Strike can then be dispatched to take out targets.
