TITUS (Tactical Infantry Transport and Utility System) is the ultimate armoured vehicle, designed to deal with all the constraints of modern hybrid warfare. Developed in close cooperation with TATRA TRUCKS, the prime contractor for the Czech and Slovak armed forces, Nexter’s TITUS continues a long and proud lineage including Leclerc MBT, VBCI and ARAVIS, all combat-proven in many theatres of operation. The vehicle combines Nexter’s extensive experience and state-of-the-art technology with the unique chassis supplied by TATRA EXPORT. Tactical commanders can now call upon a 6×6 vehicle that is customizable for a constantly evolving environment. TITUS is the multirole armoured vehicle of the 21st century. From infantry transport to combat support and combat service support functions, from peacekeeping operations to counter-insurgency, TITUS® brings unrivalled technology and the Nexter touch into the heart of the action.
The TITUS combines features of both MRAP and armored personnel carrier. This low-cost vehicle is a great proposal for countries, that can not afford both dedicated APCs and MRAP vehicles. There are more similar vehicles of this unique class, such as the Serbian Lazar and South African Mbombe and RG-35. This vehicle is capable of troop and cargo transport, medical evacuation, combat support and counter-insurgency operations. The APC (Armoured Personnel Carrier) version of the TITUS Nexter has seating for ten dismounted troops, a commander station, and a gunner and driver in the front. The front part of the vehicle and the windows provide a protection against small arms firing and shell splinters, Level 1, STANAG 4569 and Level 2 for the crew and soldiers compartment able to withstand a 50 kg IED blast. The TITUS can be fitted with add-on armour to increase the protection to Level 3 for the engine bonnet and armoured glasses, and Level 4 for the crew and soldiers compartment, with IED protection of 150 kg blast, increased by the original Nexter SAFEPRO® design.
The unique TATRA chassis design consists of a central backbone tube and air-suspended independent swinging half axles gives to the vehicle exceptional torsion and bending resistance. Air suspension offers comfortable transportation for the crew with a high speed even in the rough terrain while the vehicle and its systems are protected against shocks and vibrations. The Nexter TITUS® offers an exceptional mobility through its Tatra 6×6 chassis coupled with a Cummins 500 Hp engine coupled to an automatic gearbox with 6 forward and 1 reverse speeds. The vehicle has front and rear wheeled steering with Allison automatic transmission offering 6×4 drives on roads with full 6×6 drives over difficult terrain. The chassis consists of central backbone tube and independently suspended swinging half-axles. The TITUS can run at a maximum road speed of 110 km/h with a maximum cruising range of 700 km. The TITUS can cross a vertical step of 650 mm and fording depth of 1.2m without preparation. The vehicle is able to negotiate slope up to 60% and side slope to 30%.
