The latest version of AMV product family is Patria AMVXP, which is built on the success of Patria AMV and sets a new standard for the future 8×8 armoured wheeled vehicles produced by the Finnish defence industry company Patria. In 2013 Patria launched new concept version of AMV. In June 2014 Patria announced the name for its next generation 8×8 armoured vehicles, Patria AMVXP, which stands for Extra Payload, Extra Performance and Extra Protection. Spacious interior and high payload carrying capability provide a platform for future customer variants, allowing the simultaneous integration of weapon systems, protection and crew equipment.
Combat weight updated to 32 tonnes giving usable payload of 15 tonnes. This enables integration of full spectrum of protection against asymmetric and conventional threats, still allowing maximum firepower to be adapted by different weapon systems. Suspension, drive line and engine power is optimized to increased combat weight. Amphibious basic structure enables swimming version from same platform by integrating amphibious kit. This gives flexibility to meet different operational needs. Patria AMVXP is also available as 40 cm stretched vehicle.
Patria AMVXP’s unrivalled mobility is based on an upgraded powerline providing 450 kW engine power together with an unforeseen Integrated Terrain Control System (ITCS). Patria AMVXP’s electrical power generation is measured to match the future requirements for C4I, Battlefield Management and Situational Awareness Systems. Health and Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) together with the vehicle’s digital backbone ensures 21st century soldiers to have the best possible platform to meet their objectives in every theatre of operation now and in the future. Patria AMVXP will further strenghten Patria’s leading armoured wheeled vehicle product range.
Patria AMVXP 8×8 vehicle includes NATO and EU proven solutions which fulfill customer’s requirements. “During this program, we will develop together with EVPU a new version of an amphibious AMVXP integrated with Turra weapon system fulfilling requirements of both Slovakian and Finnish Defence Forces. We have had continuous production in our manufacturing network since 2003, which creates capability to short lead time deliveries. We have also a solid and strong experience of technology transfer programs and localization of manufacturing of vehicles, which creates work and business opportunities in Slovakia, when the serial delivery program will take place”, confirms Mika Kari, President of Land business unit in Patria.
