Republic of Korea Army (South Korean Army) T-80U main battle tank conduct river crossing training with floating bridge. 33 T-80Us were ordered in 1995 from Russia and delivered between 1996 and 1997. South Korea was given T-80U Russian debts incurred during the days of the Soviet Union. Two T-80UKs were acquired from Russia in 2005, originally eighty T-80Us were planned. Moscow is currently trying to acquire them back from Seoul. The T-80 is a third-generation main battle tank (MBT) designed and manufactured in the Soviet Union. When it entered service in 1976, it was the first MBT in the world to feature a powerful multifuel turbine engine as its main propulsion engine. The T-80 and its variants are in service in Belarus, Cyprus, Egypt, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Russia, South Korea, and Ukraine.
