During the 10th ASEAN Navy Chiefs’ Meeting (ANCM) in Malaysia last year, the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) proposed that the song “ASEAN Navies Stronger Together Forever” be adopted as an anthem to celebrate the auspicious occasion during the International Fleet Review to Commemorate the 50th Anniversary of ASEAN Establishment (The 50th Anniversary of ASEAN IFR 2017). Furthermore, RTN announced that during the 11th ANCM in November this year, RTN would propose that this song be adopted as the ANCM anthem. The song’s lyrics were a collaborative effort by the international liaison officers working in the IFC and in the permanent secretariat of ANCM. The music was later improved and composed by the Royal Thai Navy Musical School. This song aims at forging a strong sense of unity and signifying strong ties among navies in the ASEAN nations. The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is a regional intergovernmental organisation comprising ten Southeast Asian states which promotes Pan-Asianism and intergovernmental cooperation and facilitates economic, political, military, educational and cultural integration amongst its members and Asian states.
