FNSS PARS III 8×8 boasts the highest wheel navigation and lowest turn radius in its class. The two-man driver’s cab at front of the vehicle offers a 180° horizontal field of vision and a high level of driving safety and comfort. Large glass periscopes, and day and thermal cameras located at the front and rear of the vehicle provide the driver and commander with a wider field of vision. PARS is the new generation of wheeled armored combat vehicle (WACV) designed and developed by FNSS Savunma Sistemleri A.Åž. PARS has been developed with a special emphasis on mobility, protection, payload, and growth potential. The vehicles employ the latest designs and technologies with special emphasis on the performance and durability of modern military operational requirements. The vehicles are available in 6×6 and 8×8 configurations. FNSS has named the vehicles as PARS which in Turkish means “Anatolian Leopard”.
The development of the PARS vehicle started in 2002, and the first generation of PARS 8×8 armoured personnel carrier was showed for the first time during the IDEX defense exhibition in February 2015 held in the city of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The Pars III makes it first appearance in may 2017 during the IDEF defense exhibition in Turkey. The PARS III 8×8 has a modular design uses a modular design offering the possibility to configure the vehicle for a full range of missions and in different types of configuration. The PARS III 8X8 can be transported by military transport aircraft as A400, C17 & C5, sea, train or land. In November 2017, the Oman National TV has announced the delivery of first PARS III to the Omani armed forces. Under a contract signed in November 2015, the Turkish Company FNSS has planned to deliver 172 armoured vehicles PARS III 6×6 and 8×8 chassis in 13 variants until 2020 to armed forces of Oman.
