Russia’s United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), a subsidiary of state defense conglomerate Rostec, has delivered a new batch of Sukhoi Su-57 (NATO reporting name: ‘Felon’) fifth-generation multirole fighter aircraft to the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS). According to UAC, the aircraft completed a full suite of factory acceptance trials and operational evaluations by Ministry of Defense flight personnel before deploying to their operational home airfield. The delivery forms part of Moscow’s ongoing efforts to fulfill its State Defense Order and accelerate production schedules for frontline combat aircraft.
The newly delivered airframes feature an upgraded “technical configuration” tailored to expand mission profiles and integrate advanced strike options. A VKS Su-57 pilot cited by official sources noted that the revised baseline incorporates an upgraded weapons control architecture, enabling the employment of newly developed air-to-air missile types. UAC officials emphasized that these modifications reflect iterative engineering changes driven by combat feedback gathered during ongoing military operations in Ukraine, where early-production airframes have been deployed.
Developed under the PAK FA (Prospective Aeronautical Complex of Front-line Aviation) program as a successor to legacy Mikoyan MiG-29 and Sukhoi Su-27 fleets, the twin-engine Su-57 is Russia’s primary stealth platform designed for air superiority, precision land attack, and maritime strike. The design incorporates radar-evading geometries, supercruise performance, supermaneuverability, and an integrated sensor suit tailored for operational utility in heavily contested or electro-magnetically degraded environments. Western defense intelligence also indicates future iterations may integrate air-launched nuclear-capable stand-off weaponry.
United Aircraft Corporation Chief Executive Officer Vadim Badekha reaffirmed that meeting serial production targets for the Su-57 remains a primary manufacturing imperative. To meet high demand and scale output, industrial facilities across the Rostec supply chain are optimizing manufacturing workflows. Russia continues to position the Su-57 as both the cornerstone of its tactical aviation modernization and a key platform for international export, seeking to offer foreign military clients a heavy multirole fifth-generation combat aircraft.
