Textron Systems Corporation, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced that it has been awarded a contract from IMPRES Technology Solutions, Inc., a federal IT solutions provider supporting defense and national security missions, to test the Eagle Passive Active Warning Survivability System (EPAWSS) sensor for the F-15 upgrade. Under this $9.5M contract, which includes a 17-month performance period, Textron Systems will deliver multiple A2PATS® electronic warfare (EW) simulators and provide support, testing and spares to the 68th Electronic Warfare Squadron (EWS) at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. A2PATS will be used to perform testing for various Foreign Military Sales (FMS) customers. The A2PATS ― Advanced Architecture Phase Amplitude and Time Simulator ― will enable the Air Force and our allied nations to test the newest Radar Warning Receivers (RWRs) against advanced EW threats in high-fidelity, secure environments. The A2PATS system offers advanced capabilities for stimulating a wide range of signals, including electronic intelligence (ELINT), and communication intelligence (COMINT). The A2PATS uses an innovative Direct-Port Architecture that makes the system completely modular and scalable. It allows for precise replication of the phase, amplitude and time of arrival of radio frequency (RF) signals across a broad frequency range, making it suitable for testing radar warning receivers, electronic support measure suites, and communications sensors.

“The A2PATS system is capable of simultaneously simulating both electronic intelligence and communications intelligence signals, allowing for the modeling of an entire integrated air defense system,” said Steve Mensh, Senior Vice President of Electronic Systems. “What we’re providing to the U.S. Air Force and our allied nations is a realistic environment for testing and training of modern electronic warfare capabilities.”
