RENK Group AG, a leading supplier of propulsion solutions for the military sector, and a partner from the Ukrainian Defense Industry have agreed in a joint MOU on the supply of prototypes of the HMPT 800 transmission for the further development of an infantry fighting vehicle. Designed as a modular unit for simplified maintainability, the HMPT 800 has established a superior reputation for performance and reliability. The HMPT transmission, which has already proven itself on multiple US and allied fighting vehicles, impresses with its exceptional power density in a compact format, thus ensuring superior maneuverability and agility, and is currently manufactured at the Muskegon site in the US. If the prototype tests are successful, a tender for the series production of an already agreed number of transmissions will follow.
“We have the proven expertise and willingness to support Ukraine with our combat proven solutions. This MOU to jointly further develop existing mobility solutions underscores the confidence in our technology and the capacity at our facility in Muskegon”, says Ian Pain, CEO RENK America at MSPO in Kielce, one of the most renowned international trade fairs for military technology.
The advanced, low-profile, high power density design emphasizes packaging, anticipating the tight constraints of future vehicle power trains. The compact, lightweight design has dramatically higher power/weight ratio than competitors. The 800 hp transmission fits in the existing envelope of the HMPT 500 Series. This transmission has been in production in the United States since 2014 for the Bradley Fighting Vehicle Systems (BFVS), Paladin Integrated Management (PIM), Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) and Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and in Korea for the K21 since 2009. The HMPT 800 delivers significantly increased power and allows the maneuverability and agility that will be needed for system survivability on the battlefields of the future.
