Singapore Army Leopard 2

The Singapore Army concluded a bilateral live-firing exercise at the Oberlausitz Military Training Area, More than 1,300 servicemen and trainees from 48 SAR and the Armour Training Institute are involved in this year’s exercises, with 14 Leopard 2SG Main Battle Tanks and 12 Bionix Infantry Fighting Vehicles deployed. The live-firing exercise was part of Exercise Panzer Strike, which has been held since 2009 between Singapore and Germany.
The Singapore Army acquired 96 ex-German Leopard 2A4s main battle tank, including 30 spare tanks. A number were upgraded with additional AMAP composite armour in 2010 by IBD Deisenroth and ST Kinetics and renamed Leopard 2SG in October 2010. By 2013, it was reported that Singapore had taken delivery of 182 Leopard 2A4s.
