Türkiye’s leading defense electronics manufacturer, ASELSAN, has officially unveiled its GÖKTAN ground-based precision strike system during the IDEF 2025 defense exhibition in Istanbul. The system is part of the company’s expanding portfolio of next-generation warfare technologies, designed to meet the evolving operational demands of modern armed forces across multi-domain battlefields. GÖKTAN is engineered to deliver long-range, high-accuracy ground-to-ground strikes under all weather and lighting conditions. At the core of the system is the TOLUN-S munition — a 250 lb., all-up-round precision weapon, fully integrated with a propulsion unit and guided by INS/GNSS navigation for precise target engagement. Unlike conventional air-delivered munitions, the GÖKTAN system enables 360-degree engagement capability without requiring an aircraft to approach contested airspace, significantly reducing vulnerability to enemy air defenses.
When launched from the GÖKTAN ground attack control unit, the TOLUN-S separates from its propulsion stage at optimal altitude. It then follows a pre-programmed waypoint path, striking the designated target at the planned impact angle. This approach reduces exposure risk for the launch crew while enhancing mission success rates in complex threat environments. The system supports waypoint-defined targeting, multi-target engagement, and sequential firing, enabling commanders to engage multiple threats rapidly in high-tempo operations. ASELSAN emphasizes that GÖKTAN is designed for integration across multiple platforms, offering both mobile and fixed configurations. The modular design allows for rapid deployment and ease of maintenance, ensuring readiness for time-sensitive missions. The strike system incorporates integrated command-and-control (C2) and fire control systems, enabling detailed mission planning, optimized firing sequences, and both independent and centralized operation modes.
In a recent live-fire trial conducted in collaboration with Delta-V, ASELSAN successfully demonstrated GÖKTAN’s capabilities. The test involved launching a Tolun munition — originally developed as an air-launched weapon — from a Delta-V rocket in a ground-based configuration. According to ASELSAN, the munition achieved pinpoint accuracy after transitioning to guided flight mode post-separation, validating its suitability for long-range, precision strikes from ground-based platforms. This trial underscores GÖKTAN’s potential as a force multiplier, expanding the operational flexibility of the Tolun family of munitions and offering NATO-standard capabilities for future battlefield requirements.
