Iveco Defence Vehicles Latin America (IDV LATAM) has delivered the first Mobile Training Center (Centro de Treinamento Móvel – CTM) for the LMV-BR 4×4 armored vehicle, known locally as the Guaicurus , to the Brazilian Army. The handover was carried out by IDV’s After-Sales team in collaboration with the Army’s Directorate of Manufacturing (Diretoria de Fabricação – DF), and will be operated by the Armored Instruction Center (Centro de Instrução Blindado – CIBld) based in Santa Maria, Rio Grande do Sul. The CTM, developed entirely in Brazil, is a key training asset designed to enhance the readiness and technical proficiency of Brazilian Land Force personnel. It will be primarily used in courses focusing on maintenance and operational procedures for the Guaicurus platform. Based on an original vehicle chassis, the center includes a functional engine, fully integrated systems, and accessible components, enabling comprehensive, hands-on, and realistic training scenarios. With this latest delivery and ongoing production plans, the Brazilian Army continues to modernize its light armored fleet, backed by a growing domestic industrial base and a strong international-industrial partnership with Iveco Defence Vehicles.
“This delivery underscores our continued commitment to supporting Brazil’s defense capabilities through innovation and technology transfer,” said an IDV LATAM representative. “It also reinforces the growth of Brazil’s domestic defense industry and strengthens our long-standing partnership with the Brazilian Army.”

As of 2024, the Brazilian Army operates a total of 48 units of the LMV family, including both the Lince and LMV-BR variants. In July 2024, a contract was signed for an additional 420 units of the upgraded LMV-BR2 configuration, with national production scheduled to begin in 2026. Of these, 105 vehicles will be equipped with the REMAX IV remote weapon system (RWS), enhancing their combat effectiveness. This new 10-year procurement agreement marks another milestone in the strategic cooperation between IDV and the Brazilian Army. It follows a successful history of collaboration that includes the delivery of 700 units of the 6×6 amphibious Guarani armored vehicle and 32 units of the LMV-BR.
The Iveco LMV (Light Multirole Vehicle) is a 4×4 tactical armored platform currently in service with multiple armed forces worldwide. Adopted by the Italian Army under the designation Veicolo Tattico Leggero Multiruolo (VTLM) Lince (“Light Tactical Multirole Vehicle Lynx”), the platform features modular armor packages allowing protection levels to be tailored to mission requirements. In terms of mine protection, the LMV incorporates several advanced survivability features. These include a ground clearance of 493 mm (19.4 in), achieved without increasing the overall height of the vehicle (which remains under 2 meters or 6.6 feet). The design also includes suspended aviation-derived seats, a V-shaped hull underside, and a collapsible sandwich-structure floor designed to deflect and absorb blast energy from landmines. Thermal signature management is enhanced via exhaust routing through the C-pillars, while the turbocharger is positioned beneath the engine. Mobility is further supported by a run-flat tire system, enabling the vehicle to remain operational even with completely deflated tires.
