In 2023, United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) achieved significant milestones, fulfilling the Russian Armed Forces’ orders by producing and delivering an array of advanced aircraft. Among these were the Su-57, Su-35S, Su-34, Su-30SM2, Yak-130 operational-tactical aircraft, and the Il-76MD-90A military transport aircraft. This manufacturing feat, spanning facilities in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk, and Ulyanovsk, underscored the industry’s commitment to meeting defense obligations. Aviastar, a branch of Il PJSC, concluded the year by handing over the final Il-76MD-90A aircraft, efficiently meeting military transport aviation requisites and boosting production by 20%. Tupolev JSC excelled in modernizing strategic missile carriers, the Tu-160M, alongside conducting repair work on the Tu-22M3 long-range aviation aircraft, fulfilling their production program. Furthermore, PJSC UAC’s branch, NAZ “Sokol,” successfully modernized the MiG-31 fighter-interceptors, strengthening the fleet’s capabilities.

“Russian defense industry enterprises, including aviation, are working at full capacity and are fully fulfilling their obligations under the state defense order, delivering equipment to the Russian Armed Forces on time. Thus, UAC enterprises in Komsomolsk-on-Amur, Novosibirsk, Irkutsk and Ulyanovsk, as part of the implementation of the State Defense Order in 2023, manufactured and transferred to the Russian Ministry of Defense new production operational tactical aircraft Su-57, Su-35S, Su-34, Su-30SM2 , Yak-130 and military transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A. I would like to note that the resolution of issues related to ensuring the needs of the Russian Armed Forces for reliable and highly efficient equipment is controlled by the Coordination Council under the Government of the Russian Federation for meeting the needs of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, other troops, military formations and bodies,” said the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation – Minister of Industry and trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov.

“UAC enterprises fulfilled their obligations under the state defense order under current year contracts on time. For a number of items, we ensured the delivery of military equipment ahead of schedule. We are ensuring the production of the fifth generation Su-57 aircraft at an increasing pace. We increased production volumes of military transport aircraft. We continue to carry out tasks under strategic aviation programs. Production volumes for operational-tactical aircraft have been increased by 30 percent. Our multifunctional systems show their advantages in real combat conditions. In addition, feedback as a result of operation allows our engineers and designers to quickly improve aircraft equipment and ensure modernization at a higher technological level,” said Yuri Slyusar, General Director of PJSC UAC.

A crucial focus remains on aircraft maintenance, factory repairs, and the acquisition of new components, vital for sustaining the operational readiness of the entire military aircraft fleet. Mov ing into the new year, the priority is maintaining the seamless production and supply of aircraft, especially those in high demand by the Ministry of Defense. Additionally, efforts will focus on aircraft serviceability and swift airworthiness restoration, crucial in operational scenarios.Future plans include expanding military transport aircraft production, paving the way for super-heavy and light class aviation projects. To facilitate increased production, UAC aims to attract new talent, offering improved wages and initiating a unified corporate housing program. The corporation’s commitment to employee welfare is evident through enhanced social programs and a significant funding boost in 2023, primarily allocated for medical insurance, resort facilities, meals, pension schemes, and financial aid. UAC provides personnel development. In 2023, more than 42 thousand employees of the corporation’s enterprises underwent advanced training or retraining, this is almost every second employee.
