AM General Showcases Cutting-Edge Tactical Capabilities at AUSA 2024

AM General, a leader in military automotive systems and technology, is showcasing a range of advanced mobility solutions at the Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Association of the U.S. Army (AUSA), held from October 14 to 16, 2024, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. Visitors can find AM General at Booth #1939 in Hall B, where they will display their latest innovations designed to address the complexities of modern battlefields. Key exhibits include the next-generation Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV A2) and trailer, the HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer, and the brand-new MIMIC-V purpose-built tactical truck.

“AUSA is an important event for the industrial base and gives us an opportunity to update our key customer, the US Military, on the latest developments to maintain readiness. And for AM General it comes at a time when we are preparing for production of the JLTV A2. We are extremely proud and excited to feature products that are actively supporting the Warfighter and that will continue to transform capabilities to support their mission,” said Jim Cannon, AM General President and CEO.

Among the highlights of AM General’s display is the new JLTV A2 general-purpose vehicle. The Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) program was a U.S. Army, U.S. Marine Corps and Special Operations Command competition to select a vehicle to partially replace the Humvee fleet with a family of more survivable vehicles having a greater payload. This 4-passenger vehicle offers several enhancements over its predecessor, including an upgraded powertrain, improved noise reduction, and better corrosion protection. Additionally, the company is presenting the JLTV-T trailer, designed to complement the JLTV A2 with a payload capacity of up to 5,100 pounds and an 18.5-inch suspension travel, making it well-suited for rugged terrains.

Another standout exhibit is the HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye 105mm Mobile Howitzer. Developed in collaboration with Mandus Group and utilizing patented Soft Recoil Technology, the Hawkeye can engage targets with both indirect and direct fire while maintaining the agility and maneuverability for which the HUMVEE platform is known. Its ability to swiftly reposition helps avoid counterfire, making it a valuable asset in dynamic combat situations. The HUMVEE 2-CT Hawkeye is currently undergoing testing in Eastern Europe, where there is growing demand for mobile artillery solutions capable of countering near-peer threats.

AM General is also introducing the MIMIC-V (Mission Integrated Maneuverable Interoperable Conformable Vehicle) prototype, marking the first from-the-ground-up build of this platform. Designed specifically for the needs of special operations units, the MIMIC-V offers high performance with a low signature, enabling it to operate seamlessly across various tactical environments. A key feature of the MIMIC-V is its ability to blend in as a commercial vehicle, reducing its detectability and providing a strategic advantage during missions.

With a well-rounded product portfolio, which includes the iconic HUMVEE vehicles, Joint Light Tactical Vehicle A2 (JLTV A2), the next-generation HUMVEE Saber light tactical truck that has enhanced levels of protection, and the revolutionary soft recoil technology for mobile platforms, AM General strives to offer continuous improvement that is ready now. With these advanced tactical vehicles, AM General continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting the evolving needs of the U.S. Military. The company’s offerings at AUSA 2024 underscore their dedication to providing cutting-edge solutions that enhance the capabilities and readiness of the Warfighter in an increasingly complex and demanding global security landscape.
