Dassault Aviation has decided to create a company dedicated exclusively to maintenance, repair and overall (MRO) of its military activities. This company, Dassault Aviation MRO India (DAMROI), incorporated in India and based in Noida (Uttar Pradesh), is a subsidiary of Dassault Aviation. It is committed to meeting the needs of the Indian Air Force by offering tailor-made products and services to support its Mirage 2000 fleet and, more broadly, the fighter aircraft supplied by Dassault Aviation in India, in order to guarantee the best possible responsiveness and efficiency in fulfilling its requirements.

Created under the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” policy to contribute to India’s self-reliance and promote indigenous value-added services, DAMROI will benefit from Dassault Aviation’s technological expertise and offer new opportunities for cooperation and collaboration with the aim of becoming a key player in participating to a full-fledged aero defence ecosystem in India. Alongside a significant industrial input to positioning India as an international aerospace supplier under the “Make in India” policy and a full commitment to the “Skill India” initiative through the implementation of training and education programs, this new step shows Dassault Aviation’s determination to make its presence in India, a success and to contribute to India’s strategic vision for its future.

The Dassault Mirage 2000 is a French multirole, single-engine, delta wing, fourth-generation jet fighter manufactured by Dassault Aviation. In October 1982, India placed an order with Dassault for 36 single-seat Mirage 2000Hs and four twin-seat Mirage 2000THs (with H standing for “Hindustan”) with the possibility of a follow-on purchase of nine aircraft as war, maintenance and attrition reserve. Mirage 2000I/2000TI is an Indian specific version single/twin-seater fighter for the Indian Air Force similar to Mirage 2000-5 Mk2 equipped with Indian French and Israeli avionics and weapon packages. Its contract was signed in 2011 and first upgraded aircraft was delivered in 2015.

The Dassault Rafale is a French twin-engine, canard delta wing, multirole fighter aircraft designed and built by Dassault Aviation. The Rafale was one of the six aircraft competing in the Indian MRCA competition for 126 multirole fighters. Originally, the Mirage 2000 had been considered for the competition, but Dassault withdrew it in favour of the Rafale. The contract for 126 Rafales, services, and parts may have been worth up to US$20 billion. 36 (28 single-seat and 8 dual-seat) aircraft ordered. with 2 kept for training missions in France. By July 2022, all 36 Rafales had been delivered. The Indian Navy, decided to purchase 26 Rafales through Government to Government (G2G) deal. As of 29 September 2024, Dassault has submitted its final price offer for the 26 aircraft to the Navy which is significantly less than the previous estimates.

Dassault Aviation SA is a French manufacturer of military aircraft and business jets. It was founded in 1929 by Marcel Bloch as Société des Avions Marcel Bloch (Marcel Bloch Aircraft Company) or “MB”. After World War II, Marcel Bloch changed his name to Marcel Dassault, and the name of the company was changed to Avions Marcel Dassault on 20 January 1947. In 1971 Dassault acquired Breguet, forming Avions Marcel Dassault-Breguet Aviation (AMD-BA). In 1990 the company was renamed Dassault Aviation, and is a subsidiary of Dassault Group. With over 10,000 military and civil aircraft delivered in more than 90 countries over the last century, Dassault Aviation has built up expertise recognized worldwide in the design, development, sale and support of all types of aircraft, ranging from the Rafale fighter, to the high-end Falcon family of business jets, military drones and space systems.
