During a formal visit to Kishinev Minister of National Defence Laurynas Kasčiūnas handed over thermovisual sights from the Lithuanian Armed Forces to make sure the Moldovan military can detect targets in the dark or in poor weather conditions better. Lithuania consistently supports the reform of the Moldovan Armed Forces and assists in strengthening military capabilities not just with sharing of expertise and best practices in cyber and strategic communications.

“Moldova wishes to continue strengthening cooperation with Lithuania through implementation of new projects aimed at building a modern, equipped and trained Armed Forces ready for challenges. “Lithuania supported in the past, supports and will support Moldova in the area of defence in the future. With the current security situation in mind, Lithuania is prepared not just to retain the support but to increase it. WE are committed with actions, not words, and the handover of thermal sights today is a proof of that,” said Minister of National Defence L. Kasčiūnas.

The tangible assistance, thermal sights, delivered during the visit of Minister L. Kasčiūnas contributes to strengthening Moldova’s resilience and closer bilateral defence cooperation. The importance of continuity of the reform started in Moldova was accentuated at the meeting. The Lithuanian-Moldovan cooperation has grown in the wake of the full-scale Russian military invasion of Ukraine.. The countries will continue the active bilateral defence cooperation and military assistance.
