On the afternoon of June 12, Major General Le Dinh Cuong, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of the Vietnam Coast Guard, conducted an inspection of the LV-31 vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) training program at Hoa Lac Airport. This program is part of the comprehensive training conducted by the Military Service and Air Defense Force. During the inspection, Major General Le Dinh Cuong reviewed the performance of two UAV LV-31 flight crews. The trainees demonstrated a solid grasp of flying techniques, successfully handling the UAVs in various exercises including flight maneuvers, takeoffs, landings, reconnaissance missions, and the deployment and recovery of the LV-31 VTOL UAV system.

Major General Cuong commended the Air Defense and Air Force departments for their proactive approach in planning and organizing the UAV training in a methodical and scientific manner. He acknowledged the practical training results achieved by the instructors and trainees, highlighting their ability to master the LV-31 UAV operations. He urged the trainees to persevere through challenges such as adverse weather conditions and limited living accommodations. Major General Cuong emphasized the importance of maintaining the health and well-being of the soldiers, particularly during hot weather, and stressed the need to adhere strictly to the training schedule, content, and plans.

The trainees were reminded to thoroughly understand the principles, operations, and technical features of the UAVs. Major General Cuong encouraged continuous practice to improve their skills, resilience, and psychological preparedness. He stressed the importance of mastering the equipment, following proper maintenance procedures, and ensuring absolute safety during training sessions. Proficiency in operating the LV-31 UAVs is crucial for the successful execution of their assigned tasks. Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG ; Cảnh sát biển Việt Nam) is the coast guard and a uniformed people’s armed force of Vietnam. It is purposed to protect the Vietnamese state’s interests at sea while also responsible for search and rescue duties, along with their duties of combating and preventing smuggling, piracy, and trade fraud in Vietnamese waters.
