Kalashnikov Unveils Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Russian Ministry of Defense

Kalashnikov Concern recently showcased its latest advancements in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) during a specialized exhibition hosted at a site designated by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Among the notable presentations were the Karakurt and SKAT 350 M UAVs, alongside the innovative Quasimacht equipment lifting system. Operators who evaluated these UAVs highlighted their impressive tactical and technical specifications. They emphasized that these innovations were tailored to address the evolving needs of the country’s defense complex, offering practical solutions for enhanced mobility and versatility in a variety of combat scenarios, including active military operations.

The Karakurt unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) stands out as a compact yet powerful tool for real-time airborne reconnaissance. Karakurt has the ability to conduct species aerial reconnaissance in real time. The drones noted their demanded tactical and technical characteristics. It is noted that UAVs are developed taking into account the priority directions for the development of the country’s defense complex and are practical solutions for the mobility of various combat missions. Its standout feature lies in its ability to be launched from confined spaces using a compact transport and launch container, making it highly maneuverable in various operational environments. The drones can be used at guard posts and observation posts.

Meanwhile, the SKAT 350 M is engineered for continuous aerial reconnaissance, operating seamlessly in both optical and infrared spectrums. Tested in the challenging conditions of the Northern Military District, this UAV demonstrated exceptional performance capabilities. The result of a major upgrade of the well-known Supercam 350 UAV, it is designed for aerial surveillance and detection in optical and infrared ranges. After studying the experience of operating this UAV, Kalashnikov experts managed to enhance the product’s aerodynamic properties and improve its ground control system. The updated design improved their mechanical strength and reliability. Operator training and work have been made easier through the automation of numerous system features.

The Quasimacht unmanned aerial vehicle, developed by SPA “Quazimast,” is a reconnaissance quadcopter enables rapid data exchange with a ground information station (GSS) via a power cable. With a flight endurance of at least 24 hours, it can operate in radio silence mode and allows for the relocation of the ground control station and operator up to 500 meters from the UAV’s hovering point. It is not affected by electronic warfare systems, and it does not need to descend to the surface to recharge. The Quasimacht unmanned surveillance system was shown last year at the Army-2023 forum, passed state tests and is already being used in the North Military District zone.
