The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Federal Republic of Germany have strengthened cooperation on law enforcement and anti-piracy training, as well as person-to-person exchange. PCG Commandant, CG Admiral Ronnie Gil L Gavan, shared this latest development with local and foreign media partners after the courtesy visit of the Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Germany, Her Excellency Annalena Baerbock, at the National Headquarters, Port Area, Manila, yesterday, 11 January 2024. The PCG will utilize at least four Trinity Tactical electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) drones that Germany will donate to enhance the performance of its mandated functions. Currently, the PCG uses two drones donated by Germany in 2022, specifically in training Coast Guard Aviation Force pilots.

“We talk broadly about three things. One is their increasing support for the development of drones for the Philippine Coast Guard. We will also be pursuing more training opportunities to broaden skills the Coast Guard would need. We would also be increasing our person-to-person exchange to further deepen the relationship between Germany and the Philippine Coast Guard. Gagamitin natin sa search and rescue operations para mas madali nating mahanap yung mga missing persons or missing vessels. Gagamitin natin sa marine pollution response. Gagamitin din natin sa West Philippine Sea, Benham Rise, sa ating areas ‘dun sa South para ma-improve ang maritime domain awareness, para mas efficient at mas targeted ang operations,” CG Admiral Gavan said.

Trinity Tactical builds on the proven commercial eVTOL technology from the Trinity F90+ UAS to provide users with a durable, rucksack portable system that meets today’s cybersecurity and NDAA compliance requirements. Tactical teams operating in forward deployed, disconnected environments cannot wait for imagery to come from rear echelon sources. They need to have a Geographic Information System (GIS) at the tactical edge. IP54 rated and equipped with an ESC cooling system, Trinity Tactical flies efficiently for up to 90 minutes under broad environmental conditions at a maximum speed of 17 meters per second. In just one flight, the system can cover an area of 700 hectares or a linear corridor of 90 kilometers in length with an extremely accurate ground sampling distance (GSD) resolution of up to one centimeter.

Trinity Tactical is stored and carried in a compact backpack and can be operational in a matter of minutes. The modular system allows for easy assembly and payload exchange with no tools required. Equipped with QBase Tactical flight and mission planning software, Trinity Tactical performs automated tactical mapping and terrain visualization missions to reduce the cognitive load on the operator. Trinity Tactical comes with a variety of interchangeable sensors, from high-resolution RGB cameras and multi-spectral cameras to a LiDAR scanner. They are fully integrated and can be exchanged within seconds using a smart quick-lock mechanism. Trinity Tactical is the ideal tool to capture data for route planning, battle management assessment, line of sight analytics, landing zone reconnaissance, and other intelligence collection tasks.
