The SARAC 99 is a large-caliber long-range antimateriel rifle chambered for 20mm ammunition. Designed with precision and versatility in mind, this rifle promises to enhance the capabilities of armed forces across the globe. The primary objective of the SARAC 99 is the neutralization and destruction of a wide range of targets. These include defiladed or non-defiladed enemy troops, soft-skinned combat vehicles, light armored vehicles, logistic vehicles, special purpose vehicles, and command posts. Furthermore, the rifle is well-equipped to engage vulnerable targets such as grounded fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, UAVs parked on aprons, light watercraft, drones, communication equipment, electronic surveillance and tracking devices, GPS equipment, and more. With an effective range of 1,600 meters when firing at ground targets or water surfaces, the SARAC 99 boasts exceptional long-range capabilities. It is mounted on an adjustable three-legged stand, or tripod, ensuring stability during firing operations. This design element enhances accuracy and precision, even at extended distances. The SARAC 99 is a direct descendant of the 20mm anti-aircraft gun M55, originally developed for arming combat vehicles and watercraft. The rifle’s design emphasizes maximal unification with the M55’s assemblies, further enhancing its reliability.

The rifle supports a variety of optical sights, allowing operators to choose from different models or manufacturers. Additionally, passive or thermal imaging sights can be employed for enhanced targeting capabilities. The SARAC 99 is compatible with all types of ammunition in cal. 20 x 110 mm HISPANO, including NATO-designated projectiles such as HE, HEI, HE-T, HEI-T, AP-T, TP-T, and BLANK rounds. One of the standout features of the SARAC 99 is its innovative recoil reduction system. Originally derived from the 20mm anti-aircraft gun M55, the rifle has been upgraded to allow for shoulder-fired operation. This reduction of recoil, vibrations, and shock waves from powder gases is achieved through a combination of advanced assemblies, including a muzzle brake with compensator and bushing, counterweight with spring, hydraulic shock absorber, cocking mechanism with geared rack, optical sight optoelectronic devices mount with Picatinny rail, grip with triggering mechanism, buttstock-butt plate with bipod adjustable in height, and a stand adjustable in height tripod.

Operated by a skilled three-man crew, the SARAC 99 comprises a sniper, a sniper assistant (spotter), and an ammunition bearer. This arrangement ensures effective and coordinated use of the rifle’s capabilities in various combat scenarios. Transporting the SARAC 99 is a flexible endeavor. It can be easily loaded onto a motor vehicle for rapid deployment. For unconventional transport needs, it can also be conveyed using animal-drawn vehicles or pack animals. In cases where shorter distances are involved, the crew can carry the rifle on their own. The SARAC 99 represents a remarkable fusion of cutting-edge technology and battlefield experience. With its exceptional range, adaptability, and innovative recoil reduction, it is poised to make a significant impact in modern military operations, providing armed forces with a potent tool for neutralizing high-value targets across a wide spectrum of scenarios.
