Elistair announced the launch of a new generation of its Orion tethered UAS product line. The Orion 2.2 TE builds on the Orion’s legacy with new tactical functions, an expanded payload range, and a 2-in-1 modular structure to expand its range of capabilities. With the newly integrated Nextvision Raptor, XQT AI, and XQT LRF, which features a 3km laser rangefinder, Orion 2.2 TE provides superior continuous imagery for military units, border guards, and national security agencies. Powered by T-Planner V1.2, Elistair’s latest mission software, Orion 2.2 TE imagery now benefits from new tactical functions such as target tracking, automated object categorization, automated scanning routines, and POIs, facilitating surveillance missions.

The Orion 2.2 TE is an upgrade of its predecessor, the Orion 2 UAS. The Orion 2.2 TE includes new tactical functions, an expanded payload range. The Orion 2.2 TE is purpose-built for multi-mission operation thanks to its 2-in-1 design. The UAS can be modified in the field to switch its rotor configuration from ’standard’ to ‘heavy lift’, enabling a payload capacity of up to 5kgs. Additionally, a Payload Development Kit providing continuous power and a secured Ethernet connection port for wired data transfer enables operators to integrate third-party payloads. Contained in a two-case pack out, Orion 2.2 TE has a low logistical footprint and can be deployed quickly by a single operator. First deliveries are planned for end of September 2023.

In case of an emergency, an integrated parachute can be deployed, automatically or manually, for the safe recovery of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The UAV is characterised as being operable within a temperature range of -10°C to 45°C (14°F to 113°F). The Orion 2.2 TE features IP54 ingress protection, which allows it to execute missions in austere environments. The Orion 2.2 TE has a flight endurance of up to 50 hours and is integrated with multiple ISR payloads, including the XQT LRF, which has a laser rangefinder that can display the co-ordinates and range of the target object within 3 km. The UAS can also be deployed in border control, forward operating base (FOB) surveillance, and maintenance of critical communications.

Elistair is the leading manufacturer of tethered drone systems for persistent surveillance and tactical communications. Elistair is founded by Guilhem de Marliave and Timothée Penet and also wins the first prize of the alliance startup challenge in San Francisco. Elistair obtains its first patent for optimized power management technology. The same year the company delivers to Thales the world’s first tethered drone station. The US Army chooses Elistair solution for persistent security operations. In parallel, Securitas acquires Elistair tethered station for large events security. Elistair releases the Orion 1, first fully automated complete tethered drone system able to fly for 12h, and receives support from theThe company’s products are used and deployed by armed forces, law enforcement, civil security and private security in over 70 countries for event protection, perimeter surveillance, border protection and pop-up communications. Elistair offices are in France, and in the United States in North Carolina.
