The new C-130J-30 Hercules transport aircraft, bearing the serial number A-1340, arrived in Jakarta on 28 June, following its departure from Marietta, Georgia on 22 June. The aircraft made several transit stops during its journey. This delivery is part of Indonesia’s order for a total of five C-130J aircraft from Lockheed Martin. The first aircraft, A-1339, was handed over to the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) in Marietta on 21 February. Its maiden flight took place on 27 October 2022, marking an important milestone for Indonesia’s air defense capabilities.
The remaining three C-130J aircraft are scheduled for delivery in July and October 2023, and January 2024, respectively. These aircraft will further enhance Indonesia’s transport and logistical capabilities, allowing for improved mobility and support in various operations. In addition to the C-130J deliveries, Indonesia has also received approval to acquire two airborne early warning (AEW) aircraft. This move demonstrates Indonesia’s commitment to bolstering its surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities. The AEW aircraft will significantly enhance the country’s situational awareness and early warning capabilities, ensuring a more effective defense strategy.

The Lockheed Martin C-130J Super Hercules is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. The C-130J is the newest version of the C-130 Hercules, and the only model currently in production. it has four Rolls-Royce AE 2100D turboprops that can generate 4,700 horsepower and capable of reaching the highest speed of 660 km/h at an altitude of 6,706 meters (m). The aircraft has a cargo compartment with a length of 16.9 m; a width of 3.12 m; and a height of 2.74 m, and a carrying capacity of 20 tons. The Super Hercules can carry eight pallets or 97 stretchers, 128 combat troops, and 92 paratroopers. The C-130J-30 has advantages in terms of an integrated avionics system and a more efficient engine.
