Special-purpose AROCS trucks with complementary components and ZETROS crane trucks are acquired in further effort to strengthen defensive capabilities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces. The Defence Materiel Agency under the Ministry of National Defence has signed a contract with Veho Lietuva UAB on acquisition of 230 AROCS and 141 ZETROS trucks for the total value of approx. EUR 260 million. The vehicles are planned to be delivered between 2023 and 2030. Manufactured by German Daimler AG, the special-purpose AROCS trucks will be dedicated to ensure logistical operation in the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

“Modern military equipment enables our troops to prepare for logistical operations and ensure mobility better. We know because of the lessons taught by the war in Ukraine how important it is to have quality vehicles capable of transporting equipment and ammunition to any site,” says Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces currently uses 25 such trucks bought in 2021. The trucks transport up to 17 ton cargo, for example, ammunition for PzH 2000 howitzers or other artillery systems, containers, vehicles, equipment and other military stocks. The 10-ton capacity ZETROS trucks will help ensure efficiency of logistical operations in the Lithuanian Armed Forces.

The Lithuanian Armed Forces troops already have 8 such trucks in another modification. The newly purchased ZETROS are capable of loading and unloading, as well as transporting, artillery missile system ammunition, and other military equipment. In continuation of previous efforts to supply military equipment to the Lithuanian Armed Forces, 34 UNIMOG U5000 5-ton capacity tactical trucks are planned to be delivered this July, and approx. 120 military unarmored G-class all-terrain vehicles are planned to be delivered by the end in the year.
