Indonesian Navy Sampari-class fast attack missile craft KRI Panah (626) has successfully conducted a live fire test. During the series of live fire Bofors 57 mm Naval Automatic Gun L/70 tests, the Combat Management System (CMS) and C-Fire Control System software fitted onto the gun showcased potential to fire surface targets. The KCR Panah-626 vessel recently demonstrated the performance of its units as part of the Sea Acceptance Test (SAT). It demonstrates Indonesian state-owned shipbuilder PT PAL’s ability to integrate weapon systems on the fast attack missile craft.
PT PAL Indonesia Chief Operating Officer Iqbal Fikri said: “PT PAL’s proven design & capability related to KCR has been tested so that on this occasion we prove it is not only capable of building fast ships in construction or platforms, but the ability to integrate weapons as a whole which is a proven experience from PT PAL. We ensure that PT PAL’s products will be of high quality and will make it easier for the Indonesian Navy to carry out its operational functions in safeguarding Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty.”
Indonesian Navy’s indigenous program is the Kapal Cepat Rudal (KCR, Fast Missile Boat) program, consisting of three designs, the 40m KCR-40, the 60m KCR-60 and the 63m Stealth Trimaran. The KCR-60M also known as Sampari-class fast attack craft are a class of domestically designed and built fast attack missile craft operated by the Indonesian Navy. The Indonesian Navy is acquiring a total of six KCR-60M FACs, also called as Sampari-class. Four of the vessels are currently in active service.
KRI Panah (626) is armed with the Bofors 57 mm Naval Automatic Gun L/70 produced by BAE Systems . The vessel, part of the KCR-60m family of fast attack missile craft, has a length of 59.8 metres (196 ft) and a beam of 8.1 m. At full charge, it has a draft of 2.6 m, and the ship’s displacement is 460 tonnes. It has a maximum speed of 28 knots (52 km/h), with a cruising speed of 20 knots (37 km/h). She can stay at sea for 9 days, with a range of 2,400 nautical miles (4,400 km) and a crew capacity of 43. She is equipped with Danish Terma-made SCANTER 4603 X-Band radar and C-Fire electro-optical fire control system. The vessel is expected to be fitted with MBDA anti ship missile solution (Exocet MM40 Block 3).
