Nadi Corp and Turkish defense company Nurol Makin awill supply 20 Ejder Yalçin 4×4 wheeled armoured vehicles equipped with the Aselsan Stabilized Advanced Remote Weapon Platform (SARP) remote weapons station (RWS). Nadi Corp has been awarded a RM190 million tender to provide 20 4×4 APCs for the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) contingent in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Malaysia had issued a tender for 20 4×4 APCs for its United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) contingent. The tender, issued on 1 October and closing on 3 November 2021. The 20 Ejder Yalcin 4×4 will replace a similar number of Condor 4×4 Armored Personnel Carriers.
The Ejder Yalcin can be produced quickly but the RWS for them is produced at a slower rate due to supply chain issues’. Malaysia will only arm the vehicles with a 7.62mm machine gun given MALBATT’s preference for a low-key approach in South Lebanon. The vehicles will be directly delivered to MALBATT in Lebanon. Nadi Corp is in discussions with the Malaysian government as to how the maintenance is to be conducted after the two year warranty. Malaysia’s commitment to UNIFIL is for an indefinite period and is expected to go on as long as the Lebanon mission exists. Under the 20-vehicle contract, Nadi Corp will provide a two year warranty with a joint Nadi/Nurol Makina team making a visit to Lebanon every three months to assess the vehicles and conduct scheduled servicing.
The Nurol Ejder (Dragon) is a family of armoured vehicles produced by Turkish company Nurol Makina. Two versions exists under the Ejder name, a 6×6 version, and a more popular 4×4 version, called Ejder Yalcin. Design studies on the vehicle were initiated in the last quarter of 2012 and a pre-prototype of the base vehicle was exhibited at the IDEF in 2013. Mass production of the vehicle began in May 2014. It features a V-shaped hull design, integrating floating floor plates and blast mitigation seating to provide protection against mines and IED’s. It can accommodate up to 11 personnel and can carry a payload of up to 4 tons. The vehicle is equipped with optionally integrated, remote-controlled and manually-operated weapon stations. It is fitted with two gun ports on the roof.
By its unique design and high payload capacity, different payloads can be integrated; therefore Ejder Yalcin can be customized for various mission. With its powerful diesel engine, high torque capability and fully independent suspension system, the vehicle offers superior off-road performance. During the development of Ejder Yalcin, in addition to the superior protection features, user’s operational & ergonomic requirements were also considered and an ideal platform was created for the personnel to operate more efficiently and more secure in the field. Ejder Yalcin a unique platform that has high protection and mobility, is developed to meet the operational requirements of military units and security forces in every region including rural and urban areas.
