The Indonesian Navy (Tentara Nasional Indonesia Angkatan Laut, TNI AL) received two domestically made warships; hospital support ship (kapal bantu rumah sakit) KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo (991) and Klewang-class fast attack missile craft – trimaran (kapal cepat rudal trimaran) KRI Golok (688). KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo is based on the existing Indonesian Navy Makassar-class of Landing Platform Dock (LPD) built by PT PAL. Indonesian Navy operates five Makassar-class landing platform docks. KRI Golok (688) is the second vessel of the stealth, wave-piercing, carbon trimaran fast attack craft “X3K” type built by PT Lundin. The first one, KRI Klewang, was launched in August 2012.
PT PAL Indonesia is an Indonesian state-owned enterprise that manufactures ships for military and civilian use and conducts repairs and maintenance on ships and engineering. PT PAL shipyard was established in 1939 as Marine Establishment (ME) by the Dutch East Indies government. During the Japanese occupation, ME was renamed Kaigun SE 2124. After Indonesia gained independence, the company was nationalized with the company name changed to Penataran Angkatan Laut (PAL). PT Lundin Industry Invest is an international boat building company specialized in building craft for military, law enforcement, SAR, commercial, and high-performance applications. The company has a presence in Sweden, Singapore, and Indonesia, with its headquarters located at Banyuwangi, East Java, Indonesia.
KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo (991) is a hospital support ship of the Indonesian Navy. It is named after an Indonesian national hero Wahidin Soedirohoesodo. It was built in Indonesia by PT PAL. It has a length of 124 meters and a beam of 21.8 meters. The ship displacement is 7,290 tonnes. It has a capacity of 643 people, including 159 patients. It has a maximum speed of 18 knots, a cruising speed of 14 knots, and an economical speed of 12 knots. It can sail up to 30 days and 10,000 nautical miles. The construction of the ship began with the first steel cutting ceremony on 9 July 2019, with the ship assigned with yard number W000302. Its keel was laid on 14 October 2019. KRI dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo was launched on 7 January 2021 at Semarang drydock in PT PAL shipyard, Surabaya.
KRI Golok (688) is a fast attack missile craft that has a total length (Loa) of 62.53 meters, a width of 16 meters, a ship height of 18.7 meters, and a weight of 245 tons. The maximum speed of 28 knots, cruising speed of 16 knots. The vessel is armed with a 30 mm cannon and 12.7 mm gun and is capable of carrying 25 crew members. The vessel is also able to be armed with up to eight NSM, C-705, Penguin, Exocet, or RBS-15 MK3 anti-ship missiles in enclosed launchers and naval guns up to 76 mm caliber in a stealthy turret without affecting the stability of the vessel. She also carried an 11 m high-speed rigid-hulled inflatable boat for the special forces team.
