Kraz Kamrat Armored Personnel Carrier

Kamrat is a next-generation 4×4 armoured personal carrier (APC) being developed by Ukrainian Armor in collaboration with PrJSC ‘KrAZ’. The KAMRAT armoured vehicle will be based on the chassis of the KrAZ-5233 4×4 domestic off-road vehicle. It will accommodate two crew members and eight passengers. The new locally-made Ukrainian will have an overall length of 7.19m, a width of 2.55m, and height of 2.6m. The APC will have a gross weight of 16,400kg. The vehicle will be the first Ukrainian APC to feature the maximum protection class PZSA-6, which is equivalent to STANAG 4569 level 3. The door mechanism provided by TriMark will allow power locking of heavy-duty doors up to 300kg.

The Kamrat is equipped with a centralized tire inflation system, which enables the driver, be it on the move or not, to manage tire pressure to overcome difficult sections of rough terrain, automatically maintain tire pressure in the event of a puncture, and also automatically shut off wheel(s) from the system in case of its considerable damage. The armoured vehicle will be equipped with a six-cylinder turbocharged engine, which will offer a maximum power of 380hp and torque of 1460Nm. The vehicle’s engine will be fitted with extra armour plates for protection against 7.62mm rounds. KAMRAT will have the capacity to hold up to 350l of fuel. The power-plant will allow the vehicle to run at a speed of 100km/h.

The Kamrat will be armed with a 12.7mm Sarmat combat module, 107mm Corsar anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) and Skif man portable anti-tank missile systems. The combat module will integrate a rotating platform with rails for firing missiles, a power unit, and a guidance system. The Corsar ATGM can engage land-based targets including tanks, armoured vehicles, and combat reconnaissance vehicles, as well as aerial targets such as helicopters and unmanned aircraft. The Skif is a Ukrainian-Belarusian anti-tank guided missile (ATGM) developed by the Luch Design Bureau. . Skif is designed to destroy armored vehicles equipped with explosive reactive armor (ERA) and can attack stationary and moving targets.
