Leonardo is exhibiting at Expodefensa 2019 international exhibition (2-4 December, Corferias Exhibition Center, Bogotá), Latin America’s point of reference for technological development and innovation in the security and defence domains. Leonardo is showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of products and systems covering the land, naval, air and cyber domains. Leonardo’s M-346FA fighter attack/light combat aircraft made its debut with a model shown at the Expodefensa trade show on 2 December as the company is promoting the aircraft in Colombia and Latin America.

Visitors to the Company’s stand (1273) can see a model of a M-346 Fighter Attack (FA), a multi-role light fighter equipped with Leonardo’s own Grifo-346 multi-mode fire control radar. The FA (Fighter Attack) variant is the most suitable response to meet the widest range of customer operational needs. The aircraft is a multi-role lightweight fighter equipped with the multi-mode Grifo-346 radar, with Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) and specifically optimized for the M-346FA variant..

The M-346FA is a variant of the M-346 platform, which Leonardo said has been selected by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and ordered by Israel, Italy, Poland, and Singapore. The M-346FA keeps the characteristics of the advanced trainer version but is also capable of carrying out a wide range of operational missions at a lower cost than those of front-line fighters. The M-346FA will make its first flight in the first half of 2020 and will be delivered in 2021 to an undisclosed customer.
