AM General, the leading manufacturer of light tactical vehicles, has received an order to provide 739 new M1152A1 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to the U.S. Army National Guard as a part of their modernization initiatives valued at $89 million. This is in addition to the 740 new HMMWVs ordered in October 2018. The single cab, open cargo M1152A1 HMMWV variant is enhanced with Integrated Armor Protection, can serve as a troop or cargo transport vehicle, and is easily transportable by land, sea, or air. Modernization enhancements include improvements to the powertrain, suspension, cooling and electrical systems, and make these new HMMWV’s more powerful, rugged and reliable. Delivery of this recent order of M1152A1 HMMWVs will begin in the third quarter of 2019.

The M1152 is an Expanded Capacity HMMWV enhanced with Integrated Armor Protection as a Cargo or Troop Carrier. It is a two-man vehicle used primarily to transport personnel, but can also be used as a shelter carrier. The M1152 provides superior troop protection and is capable of carrying up to eight passengers under the Armor Troop Carrier or Troop Seat options. Built for readiness and reliability, the complete line of the M1100 series of Expanded Capacity Vehicles remains in production—along with the M997 ambulance and the M1097 higher-capacity payload cargo and troop carrier—to safely get U.S. forces where they need to be, no matter the conditions.
