On 21 March, Turkish Aerospace Industries, Inc (Türk Havacılık ve Uzay Sanayi A.Åž., TUSAÅž) has released video of the first flight of ANKA-AKSUNGUR twin-engine medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Anka Aksungur UAV is a twin-engine version of ANKA UAV with high load capacity at medium altitude has flown for 4 hours 20 minutes. This unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is powered by TUSAÅž Engine Industries (TEI) PD170 engine. Turkish Aerospace Industries continues its efforts to meet the country’s demand for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems.

At this moment, full specifications, including weight, the device has not been disclosed. But according to the current information, the new Turkish UAV should have a payload mass of 750 kg (including armament), a working ceiling of 40 thousand feet (12,000 m) and a flight duration of more than 24 hours. The UAV is equipped with a useful reconnaissance load of Turkish production (the lead developer is the Aselsan company) and a satellite communications system via the Turkish TURKSAT satellites.

The TAI Anka is a family of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) for the requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces. The Anka MALE UAV system can perform all weather, day / night intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, tracking of fixed and stationary targets, signals intelligence (SIGINT) and communications relay. The drone is named after a phoenix-like mythological creature called Zümrüd-ü Anka (Anka kuşu in Turkish.)
