Ilyushin Il-112V is a high-wing twin-engine light military transport aircraft being developed by Ilyushin Aviation Complex (a part of JSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)) for air landing and airdrop of military air cargoes, equipment and personnel. It is set to replace the Soviet-era Antonov An-26 and some An-12 auxiliary transports operated by Russian military aviation. Il-112T, the civilian transport version of Il-112V, is designed for commercial cargo transportation services.

The Ilyushin Il-112V is powered by two improved Klimov TV7-11ST turboprop engines, with 2,610 kW (3,500 hp) each, each fitted with 6-bladed AV-112 constant-speed reversible pitch propellers. The engine is 2.14m long and 0.94m in diameter, and weighs 450kg, while the propulsion system consists of two six-bladed propellers. The airlifter is 25.15 m long, with a height of 8.89 m and a wing span of 27.6 m. It has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of around 20t, and payload capacity of 6t. The aircraft is equipped with a loading ramp for easy loading and unloading of equipment.

The Il-112V light military transport aircraft features classic high-wing monoplane design with constant chord inner wings and tapered outer wings. The circular fuselage is designed to withstand heavy loads. A T-tail configuration, which consists of a vertical stabiliser and a rudder, attaches the fuselage. The retractable tricycle landing gear will include a nose wheel unit and two main wheel units. It has a maximum take-off weight of up to 20t, and payload capacity of 6t. The cargo cabin is attached with a loading ramp for loading and unloading of cargo, while the cabin is 11.2m long, 2.45m wide, and up to 2.4m high. The aircraft is designed to carry out both transport and airlift missions under any geographic, climatic, and adverse weather conditions, during day and night.

The first prototype of Russia’s new Il-112V military transport was rolled out of the Ilyushin Voronezh VASO aircraft plant on 27 November. The first prototype is intended for performance and flight-handling trials. A second airframe intended for strength and fatigue tests is under construction. After the prototype completes the testing stage, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) is expected to order a low-rate initial production batch of Il-112Vs for service trials. In April, the Defense Ministry said it planned to purchase over 100 Il-112V planes.

The aircraft is being manufactured by the Voronezh Aircraft Production Association (VASO). Both JSC Ilyushin and VASO are part of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC). The PJSC United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is a Russian aerospace and defense corporation. With a majority stake belonging to the Russian Government, it consolidates Russian private and state-owned aircraft manufacturing companies and assets engaged in the manufacture, design and sale of military, civilian, transport, and unmanned aircraft.
