The IAV (Interim Armored Vehicle) Stryker is a family of eight-wheeled armored fighting vehicles derived from the Canadian LAV III. Stryker vehicles are produced by General Dynamics Land Systems Canada for the United States Army. It has 4-wheel drive (8×4) and can be switched to all-wheel drive (8×8). The Stryker got its name from two American heroes who posthumously received the Medal of Honor after saving the lives of fellow Soldiers in World War II and Vietnam, respectively. Introduced in 2000, the eight-wheeled, medium-weight Stryker has lived up to its name by saving countless numbers of Warfighters. Now the Stryker’s new Double-V Hull – known as the “gold standard of protection” – is protecting even more of our fighting men and women. The Stryker vehicle can reach speeds of more than 60 mph and handle any type of terrain. It also has 10 different configurations and 85% commonality across the entire fleet. That unparalleled combination of versatility, survivability, lethality and maneuverability is what makes this vehicle Stryker Strong.

The Stryker is an eight-wheeled, armored combat vehicle that provides an effective mix of capabilities which enables Soldiers to successfully execute their missions across the full spectrum of operations. Manufactured by General Dynamics Land Systems, the Stryker is survivable, agile, maneuverable and capable of safely transporting Soldiers to their objective on the battlefield. All ten Stryker variants combine maximum commonality and proven performance with low-operating and life-cycle costs. America’s Soldiers deserve nothing less.

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) and E. Falck Schmidt (EFS) have joined together to produce a remotely-controlled Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) system for tracked and wheeled Infantry Armored Vehicles. Evolved from the Elevated TOW System (ETS), the ATGM Weapon System provides TOW missile capability to today’s Infantry Armored Vehicles. The ATGM weapon system has a 2-tube launcher and elevated mast extending 0.5 meters above the chassis. The ATGM provides maximum armor protection to a crew of three while operating stealthily using terrian and other structures to provide masking and protection. The ATGM weapon system, through the employment of current sighting technologies, enables the use of all TOW missile types. With ATGM, customers are assured of the equipment and missile commonality with current U.S. and Allied Inventories. The ATGM weapon system is employed in the U.S. Army Stryker Brigade Combat Team (BCT) ATGM vehicle.

The Stryker Command Vehicle (CV) is a fast-moving, armored tactical operations center allowing commanders to efficiently and effectively manage the battlefield with real-time intelligence and communication with their unit, all while on the move. Enabled by Stryker’s innate capability and performance, the CV has an unmatched combination of survivability, mobility and lethality, making it suited for roles in any combat formation.

The Stryker Engineer Squad Vehicle (ESV) provides Combat Engineers with highly mobile, protected transport to decisive locations on the battlefield. The ESV enables Engineers to provide the required mobility and limited countermobility to support their respective units. The ESV allows Engineers to fulfill their mission roles with the same mobility, survivability and lethality as the rest of the Stryker family of vehicles. Integrated in the ESV are advanced systems to overcome natural and manmade obstacles, lane-marking systems and mine-detection devices.

Stryker Fire Support Vehicle (FSV) supports the Stryker Brigade Combat Team with “first round” fire-for-effect capability. Its capabilities include enhanced surveillance, target acquisition, identification and designation. The FSV also utilizes the AN/TVQ-2 Ground/Vehicle Laser Locator Designator (G/VLLD) to track targets on the battlefield.

The Stryker Mortar Carrier (MC) provides accurate and lethal high-angle fire support. It has the same mobility and characteristics as other vehicles in the Stryker family while allowing for the rapid delivery of indirect fires across the battlefield. The MC is capable of transporting and firing a 60mm, 81mm, or 120mm Recoil Mortar System from a Stryker platform. The enhanced Mortar Fire Control System enables Warfighters to orient the mortar tube and place effective rounds on objectives very quickly. The MCs ammunition stowage capacity enables units to sustain the fight for extended periods.

The Stryker Medical Evacuation Vehicle (MEV) is an essential element to combat formations, giving Brigade Combat Teams the capability to quickly transport wounded soldiers to treatment facilities. Possessing common characteristics of the Stryker family of vehicles, the MEV has the capacity to utilize four litters complete with a lift system. Encased by Stryker’s battle-proven design, the Stryker MEV is the preferred ambulance by today’s Warfighter.

The Stryker family of vehicles is the ideal combination of armor, lethality and “historically high” mission availability rates. Stryker Brigade Combat Teams have demonstrated the value of a force that can rapidly move as a cohesive combined arms team. Stryker is extremely mobile on the ground and is C-130 air transportable. This system provides the Army with the ability to project combat power anywhere on earth within 96 hours. The Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS) variant is a direct-fire infantry assault platform with a 105mm cannon. It is mounted in a low-profile, fully stabilized, “shoot on the move” turret integrated into the Stryker chassis. The Stryker Mobile Gun System (MGS) carries 18 rounds of NATO- standard 105mm main gun ammunition; 400 rounds of 0.50 caliber ammunition, and 3,400 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition. The bunker and wall-breaching capabilities allow it to neutralize enemy vehicles, equipment and hardened positions.

The Stryker NBC Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV) is the choice for Route Reconnaissance and Surveillance. It houses an integrated NBC sensor suite and meteorological system so a crew can detect areas of contamination and then plot a clean bypass route. The Stryker NBC Reconnaissance Vehicle (NBCRV) is also well suited to collect and transport samples of radiological, biological and chemical material for later analysis.

The Stryker Reconnaissance Vehicle (RV) is a platform that enables reconnaissance elements to collect information and conduct surveillance operations with the same cross-country mobility capabilities as the rest of the Stryker fleet. The quiet engine and long-range infrared surveillance equipment allows Reconnaissance Units to conduct both overt and covert intelligence collection operations. The Stryker Reconnaissance Vehicle (RV) is the key enabler within the Stryker Brigade Combat Teams for both sensor and HUMINT focused Reconnaissance Operations. The RV accommodates a 4-man RSTA squad and an intelligence augmentee.

The Stryker Double-V Hull (DVH) is an evolutionary leap of improved capability across the Stryker family of vehicles. The Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle (ICV) Double-V Hull provides greatly improved survivability to the Stryker Brigade Combat Team. The new, combat-proven, Double-V Hull configuration provides unprecedented survivability against mines and IEDs, while the new driveline and suspension significantly improve the vehicle’s payload capacity, ride stability, and reliability. As the most common variant within the Stryker Brigade Combat Team, the ICV maneuvers combat elements across the area of operations. The mounted Remote Weapons Station provides direct fire support to dismounted Infantrymen during assaults. The new Double-V Hull ICV is one of the most versatile, mobile, and safest personnel carriers in the Army’s inventory. Already saving lives in the SBCT, and ready now to be the AMPV solution, the Double-V Hull is in production for several of the Stryker variants.
