The PPLD (Poteur Polyvalent Lourd de Dépannage, Heavy Multi-purpose Recovery Carrier) is an 8×8 multipurpose heavy recovery truck, the latest generation used by the French Army. This heavy recovery truck for the French Army and is part of of the PPT (Porteurs Polyvalents Terrestres) programme awarded in 2010 by the French procurement agency DGA to Iveco Defence Vehicles and its French partner Soframe (of French Lohr Group). PPT cover the procurement of logistics trucks in different configurations for different missions.
The PPLD multipurpose heavy recovery truck which is based on M32045WM 8×8 high-mobility tactical truckhigh-mobility truck from Iveco. This multi-purpose heavy recovery trucks, all outfitted with mine protected cabin and a protected weapon station (PL 80 system from Panhard Defense armed with FN Herstal MAG 58 7.62 mm light machine gun) on the top of it. The PPLD can recover and tow heavy vehicles and handle heavy loads. Today the PPLD is in service with the French Army in France and abroad.
