The Pandur II 8×8 wheeled armoured vehicle family exclusively marketed, sold and serviced in the Czech Republic and other selected markets in Eastern Europe and Asia by Czech company Excalibur Army. In 2015, General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS) – Steyr actually stopped efforts to promote Pandur II and sold the full rights to this vehicle to the Czech company Excalibur Army, which currently is part of the Czechoslovak group. Assembly Pandur II was organized at a specially created Tatra Defense Vehicle plant in KopÅ™ivnice, also part of the Czechoslovak group. The assembly is carried out from the car kits supplied from Austria.
The collaboration will see vehicles manufactured under license at Excalibur Army sites in Czech Republic and Slovakia. GDELS -Steyr will support Excalibur Army’s activities with design services and component delivery. With this step we have established a sustainable collaboration with a trusted and capable partner, which has a significant industrial footprint in Czech Republic and Slovakia and also excellent market access to other export markets in Eastern Europe and Asia
In 2015, the Excalibur Army contracted Indonesia for an undisclosed number of Pandur II vehicles at a total cost of $ 39 million. At the same time, a contract was signed with the Indonesian company PT Pindad to refine the vehicles by installing various weapons systems, as well as localizing production, starting with 2018, if Indonesia decides to continue procurement. The first 4 vehicles arrived in Indonesia in September 2017. In early 2017, Tatra Defense Vehicle signed a contract with the Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic for 20 Pandur II 8×8 C2 vehicles to add to the 107 Pandur II 8×8 vehicles already in Czech service.
The Pandur II 8×8 is an improved modular all-wheel-drive version of the Pandur 6×6 APC wheeled armoured vehicle. It was developed as a private venture by the Austrian company Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeuge and is currently in production for the Portuguese Armed Forces. Steyr-Daimler-Puch Spezialfahrzeuge is part of General Dynamics European Land Combat Systems, which is also the parent company of MOWAG of Switzerland and Santa Bárbara Sistemas of Spain. The Pandur 8×8 APC is manufactured in Austria while export versions are also built in the Czech Republic and licensed versions in Barreiro, Portugal.
