Heckler & Koch and Valhalla: Partnering for Excellence

At the Enforce Tac 2025 exhibition, Valhalla Turrets and Heckler & Koch GmbH had the privilege of presenting their joint development initiative: the Loki MG-5 , a lightweight remote-controlled weapon station (RCWS) equipped with the Heckler & Koch HK121 (MG5) general-purpose machine gun. The system, displayed prominently at the Heckler & Koch booth, features the HK121 (also known as MG5 during development) , a belt-fed, 7.62x51mm NATO caliber machine gun, with an integrated combat load of 500 rounds. Designed to deliver rapid adaptability, responsiveness, and battlefield dominance, the Loki MG-5 exemplifies next-generation modular defense technology tailored for modern combat environments.

As part of Valhalla Turrets’ expanding portfolio, the Loki RCWS is specifically engineered for integration onto light tactical and logistic vehicles , offering a compact, flexible, and lightweight solution without compromising firepower. The system supports weapons ranging from 5.56 mm up to 12.7 mm , making it adaptable across a wide range of platforms and mission profiles.

The Loki RCWS boasts a modular architecture , enabling users to configure the system with precision optics and armaments tailored to specific operational needs. Despite its light construction, the turret maintains robust performance and proven reliability, capable of effectively engaging targets out to 1,000 meters. Designed with remote operation in mind, Loki allows crews to engage threats from a protected position inside the vehicle or from a safe distance, enhancing survivability and situational awareness on the modern battlefield.

Beyond its primary role as a vehicular weapon system, the Loki RCWS can also function as a secondary armament on larger turret systems or as a stationary defense installation in perimeter security operations. Notably, the platform can be optionally configured as a Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (CUAS) , providing armed forces and security units with a scalable solution against emerging aerial threats. This collaborative effort between Valhalla Turrets and Heckler & Koch underscores a shared commitment to innovation and the advancement of high-performance, adaptable defense systems for the evolving security landscape.
