Turkey’s new generation cruise missile Cakir took to the field for the first time. Turkish defense industry companies cross borders with their engineering capabilities. A new domestic ammunition has been added to the weapons of Bayraktar Akinci TIHA developed by Baykar. Bayraktar Akinci TIHA hit a target over 150 kilometers with a precise hit with the Cakir. The targets of Cakir include surface targets, land and surface targets close to the shore, strategic land targets, field targets and caves. Cakir is a family of weapons as it will be offered in many variants with Infrared homing, radio frequency–guided and can be launched from all platforms, namely ships.

Cakir is a new generation cruise missile that can be launched from land, sea and air platforms with a range of more than 150 km (93 mi), designed by Turkish rocket and missile manufacturer Roketsan. The missile, which can act in coordination with different platforms thanks to its network-based data link, allows route update, target change and mission cancellation during flight depending on the user’s choice. It also has the ability to dodge while cruising. The missile, which has terrain following technology, can fly close to the water surface. It uses the KTJ-1750 turbojet engine developed by the Turkish defense research company Kale Arge.

Bayraktar Akinci is a high-altitude long-endurance (HALE) unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) being manufactured by the Turkish defence company Baykar. The first three units entered service with the Turkish Armed Forces on 29 August 2021. The aircraft has a 5.5+ tons of maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) of which 1350+ kg is composed of payload. Akinci is equipped with two turboprop engines which has two different types of thrust capabilities as 450 or 750 hp. Bayraktar Akinci is equipped with electronic support and countermeasure systems, dual satellite communication systems, air-to-air radar, collision avoidance radar and national advanced synthetic aperture radar.

Bayraktar Akinci has 881 lb (400 kg) internal and 2,094 lb (950 kg) external payload capacity, combining the overall combat load to max. 2,976 lb (1,350 kg). Powered by two 450 hp (340 kW) or 750 hp (560 kW) turboprop engines, large 66 ft (20 m) wingspan ensures 5.5 tons of maximum takeoff weight. Bayraktar Akinci will be the first unmanned combat aerial vehicle capable of launching an air launched cruise missile. The Akinci drone is equipped with an indigenously manufactured active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, a SAR/GMTI radar, a surveillance system, electronic warfare, and signal intelligence suite (SIGINT), and SATCOM allowing Akinci to become an UCAV as well as ISTAR+C3 asset for Turkish military.
