The TRV family of tactical drones is being collaboratively developed by the UK-based Malloy Aeronautics and the Maryland-based SURVICE Engineering Company under contract with the U.S. Department of Defense. The unmanned aircraft is one of the leading concepts providing unmanned assured logistics resupply in an aerial platform organic to traditional ground-based units. The TRV-150 UAS (Tactical Resupply UAS or TRUAS) is a marine-focused platform designed for tactical resupply primarily on shore. The TRV T150’s redundant avionics and drive system allow you to focus on the task – not the vehicle. The unmanned aircraft has been designed for the toughest military environments, with demonstrated operations in the artic circle, desert and at sea.

The systems is being considered for delivery to the US Navy and US Marine Corps through ‘non-traditional acquisition strategies’. It is designed to transport items like food and tactical gear to marines. Demonstrations using the TRUAS took place in St. Inigoes, Maryland, US on 27 October 2021. In the first mission, the team made an air drop where TRUAS flew to a pre-programmed point to drop a payload and flew back to the original point. In the second leg, TRUAS flew to specified coordinates, landed, released the payload for delivery, and then returned to its location. During this testing, the system was able to transition back to forward flight and returned with a vertical landing. NAVAIR noted that TRUAS will be delivered to marines next summer as part of an ‘extended user assessment’.
