OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) is pleased to announce the signing of a contract between the Bundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik u. Nutzung der Bundeswehr BAAINBw (Bundeswehr) and the Arche Systeme GmbH (ARCHE) for the German Navy navigation system upgrade RadEA 2. Through ARCHE, OSI will be supplying a fully integrated IMO certified navigation solution for the navigation system upgrade on German Navy legacy ships and shore establishments. Core components consist of RADAR, W-ECDIS, and WAIS and Data Distribution Systems. The RadEA program was initiated in 2006 and has been responsible for the modernization of the German Navy navigation systems.

RadEA 2 represents the next stage in the RadEA programme in which the systems will be upgraded.
Representing over 40 platforms, including the F123 Frigates, EGV Tankers, MCM, T404 Tenders, T423 Intel Vessels, and multiple LandAnlagen, the upgrade will begin in the first quarter of 2023, and is expected to be completed by 2028. The RadEA signing follows the recent contracting for the integration of OSI’s Integrated Navigation & Tactical System (INTS) into F-126 and K-130. ARCHE will use ECPINS 7 to power the tactical navigation system, and as the prime, will be responsible for the integration and the various stages of testing and delivery of the navigation systems to the Navy.

“We are very excited to have won the RadEA upgrade programme with ARCHE. ECPINS is at the heart of the solution and is an excellent continuation of the shared success following the recent K-130 contract, again with ARCHE. This, together with the F-126 new build Integrated Bridge Solution with DAMEN/Blohm+Voss, firmly establishes OSI’s ECPINS based navigation solutions within the German Navy,” stated Ken Kirkpatrick, President and CEO.

“Working with the Bundeswehr and continuing to deliver close support to the German Navy is a proud achievement for ARCHE. We are delighted we can begin the Fleet navigation upgrade and continue to work with OSI to deliver a solution that meets the latest NATO standards,” said Joachim Ristau, ARCHE CEO.
