The Spanish Army recently purchased a batch of 15 new Barrett bullpup anti materiel sniper rifles in caliber 12.70 x 99 mm for almost 450,000 euros. This rifle (M95SP model) is already in use by the special operations command and the parachute brigade of the Spanish Army. in the Spanish Air Force and also in the Spanish Navy, specifically in the Marine Corps. Among the units that have this weapon are the Special Operations Command (MOE) and the Parachute Brigade (Bripac). Northern Technologies Defense is the company supplying the rifles, as it was the only company that decided to participate in the tender. This September month, the Ministry of Defense of Spain, Northern Technologies Defense, and Barrett will formalize the order.

The Barrett M95 is a bolt-action rifle chambered in .50 BMG (12.7×99mm), and manufactured by Barrett Firearms Company. It has been adopted by a number of militaries around the world. The M95 is an improved version of the earlier Barrett M90. It is a bolt-action rifle in a bullpup design. Its innovative bullpup design minimizes overall length without sacrificing ballistic performance or accuracy of the proven 50 BMG cartridge. Fed from a 5-round detachable box magazine, the combat-proven Model 95 is the pinnacle of simplicity for end users who demand precision, reliability, and power on the range or in the fight. The barrel chamber has been plated in chrome, and there are also some minor changes to the trigger and firing pin.

Barrett Firearms Manufacturing is an American manufacturer of firearms and ammunition located in Christiana, Tennessee. It was founded in 1982 by Ronnie G. Barrett for the purpose of building semi-automatic rifles chambered for the .50 BMG (12.7×99mm NATO) ammunition, originally developed for and used in M2 Browning machine guns. Barrett began this work in the early 1980s, and the first working rifles were available in 1982, hence the designation M82. Barrett personally designed every part of the weapon. He marketed the weapon and mass-produced it utilizing personal funds. He continued to develop the rifle through the 1980s, and developed the improved M82A1 rifle by 1986.
