Ukraine to Get 300 Atlas Micro-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles for Battlefield Surveillance

A Ukrainian funding agency has purchased some 300 Atlas lightweight tri-copter – unmanned aerial vehicles to help provide battlefield surveillance to the Ukrainian armed forces. They have secure communication channels and was designed specially for reconnaissance and artillery correction. The Come Back Alive Foundation, which works on providing aid to the Ukrainian military announced on Facebook it purchased 100 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems from a Latvian industrial drone manufacturer Atlas. The Foundation’s team has previously purchased 10 PD-2 UAVs and 25 “Leleka-100” UAVs for the Ukrainian military.

The 100 Atlas systems include 300 copters, as well as tablets and repeaters for them. These drones have a secure communication channel and carry a high-quality thermal imaging camera for surveillance at night. Atlas copters can be used for reconnaissance and artillery fire adjustment. The first systems are already working at the frontline providing aerial reconnaissance to the Ukrainian Special Operations Forces. The UAVs is operated with a unique MESH communication system that enables multi drone control full integration to legacy C4I systems, and autonomous operation according to pre-planned mission and reaction.
