The International Armored Group (IAG) redesigned Rila 8×8 armoured vehicle is a major improvement over the first prototype presented at IDEX 2021. The new improved model featuring a new turret and redesigned hull showcased at resented significant refinement to the vehicle’s design. The RILA 8×8 IFV can be armored up to STANAG 4569 LEVEL 4. It produces over 500HP with a powerful 13.0L diesel engine and can be driven over 105km/h and maintain a cruising range of 720KM depending on driving conditions. The RILA 8×8 is equipped with blast attenuation seats which can sit up to eleven (11) fully geared personnel including the driver and commander.

The new design showcased the Rila 8×8 in an infantry fighting vehicle (IFV) configuration, utilising the Spanish-made Guardian 30 remotely operated weapon system armed with the MK44 Bushmaster II 30 mm cannon. The turret is equipped with 12 smoke grenade launchers, Elbit laser-warning receivers, a meteorological sensor, and a PILAR acoustic array. The gunner and commander each have a fully stabilised third-generation thermal sight with CCD TV cameras, with the commander’s panoramic sight located on the turret’s roof. The Guardian 30 features a laser rangefinder and is suitable for hunter-killer operations.

The Rila utilises a chassis design with the engine in the front centre of the hull, the driver and commander between the first and second axles. In the IFV configuration the vehicle can accommodate a driver, commander, gunner, and eight dismounts in the rear compartment. The vehicle is 7.6 m long, 2.45 m wide, and 2.6 m high. Its combat weight is 28 tonnes, although a gross vehicle weight of 32 tonnes is possible, with a maximum permissible load of nine tonnes per axle,
