Austal’s Offshore Patrol 60 is a new steel vessel design derived from a proven platform that has demonstrated success operating in tropical environments and conducting border patrol and maritime operations. Based on the in-service Evolved Cape Class Patrol Boat, the “Offshore Patrol 60” design comes in three main variants built upon a common hull. Unlike the Cape Class, the Offshore Patrol 60 has a steel hull. A fast and effective stern launch for the ships boat and the option of two or three engine configurations features across the Offshore Patrol 60 range, which includes Patrol, Surveillance and Subsurface (MCM) variants.
The new Offshore Patrol 60 may be fully customised and configured to suit individual vessel or fleet requirements and constructed by Austal. In addition to sharing a common steel hull, all three variants of Offshore Patrol 60 are equipped with a rear launching boat ramp, flight deck for small Unmanned Aerial Systems (known as UAS), counter-drone systems, and 12.7mm machine guns.
The Austal Offshore Patrol 60 Maritime Security variant is fitted with options allowing operators to perform missions to deter or prevent illegal activity from occurring in their national maritime jurisdiction. The Austal Offshore Patrol 60 Subsurface variant is fitted with options allowing operators to perform underwater missions, including mine countermeasures, hydrographic surveys utilising unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV’s) and towed arrays. The Austal Offshore Patrol 60 Surveillance variant is equipped to undertake reconnaissance, surveillance, ISR and search and rescue operations, along with command and control responsibilities.
