The PGZ-NAREW consortium has concluded an agreement with MBDA regarding the schedule and terms of delivery of the NAREW system components from the British partner. The contract will allow for the integration of the MBDA launcher and missiles with the radar station and the C2 communication and command system produced by the Polish defence industry. The agreement between the PGZ-NAREW Consortium and MBDA UK is a confirmation of the British partner’s readiness for quick and efficient deliveries of the effector team – the CAMM missiles and iLaunchers – which will be integrated by the members of the Consortium as part of the contract concluded April 14 this year, for the delivery of two short-range air defence fire units for the Polish Armed Forces in the accelerated formula.

The Common Anti-Air Modular Missile (CAMM) is a family of surface-to-air missiles developed by MBDA UK for the United Kingdom. Incorporating advanced technologies to provide complete protection against all known and projected air targets. The CAMM missile will form the core of the land based air defence version for the Royal Artillery. CAMM has an active RF seeker that provides true all-weather performance with excellent clutter rejection capabilities. CAMM shares some common features and components with the ASRAAM air-to-air missile, but with updated electronics and an active radar homing seeker. From 2021, as Land Ceptor it is the missile part of the Sky Sabre air defence system replacing the Rapier missile in British Army service. The system is also contributing to the updating of MBDA’s ASRAAM in service with the Royal Air Force.

Chris Allam, Managing Director of MBDA UK, said: “MBDA is proud to be part of such an important programme for the protection of Polish skies together with our Polish partners from PGZ. This rapid initial NAREW project demonstrates MBDA’s agility to respond to urgent needs, and develop sovereign system solutions in rapid timescales. We are already working to rapidly deliver the first systems to Poland as well as addressing the wider NAREW programme of technology transfer and Polish manufacture.”

“Today’s contract allows us to confirm the further schedule of integration work, the progress in which will determine how quickly we will be able to strengthen our country’s air defence. The signed document is also another step towards concluding a strategic agreement with our British partner in the production of launchers and missiles at our plants, that is crucial for the success of the entire NAREW program” said Sebastian Chwa?ek, President of the Management Board of PGZ S.A.

The NAREW program provides for the development and delivery of components and subsystems for 23 short-range anti-aircraft missile systems. The program covers the supply of modern military equipment for the Polish Armed Forces, but also the acquisition of technology and knowledge, building industrial potential, project management and system integration by the Polish defence industry. The PGZ-NAREW Consortium consists of: Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (leader), Huta Stalowa Wola S.A., Jelcz sp.z o.o., MESKO S.A., O?rodek Badawczo Rozwojowy Centrum Techniki Morskiej S.A., PCO S.A., PIT-RADWAR S.A., Wojskowe Zak?ady ??czno?ci No. 1 S.A., Wojskowe Zak?ady Uzboszenia S.A., Military Electronic Works ARE. and Zak?ady Mechaniczne Tarnów S.A. Other companies from the Polish Armaments Group and a number of private companies, research and development institutions and academic centres will also be able to participate in the project.
