After almost two years of construction, Dynamit Nobel Defence new “Casting Center” was completed at the turn of the year. It comprises buildings and facilities for casting, tempering and drying explosives and blasting agents for shoulder-fired weapon systems. The initial plans for this infrastructure measure were drawn up back in 2014/2015. After a complex concept and detailing phase as well as extensive official approval procedures, the groundbreaking ceremony was held in March 2020. Now that the contractor services have been completed, fine-tuning work on the heating, water, ventilation and communications supply of the new complex will take place in the coming months.

From July 2022, it will be fully operational and become part of the production lines of Dynamit Nobel Defence system families. The company are thus significantly expanding our capacities and competencies in the area of warhead production for both existing RGW series products and those still under development. A substantial order backlog and good economic prospects have made this project possible. At the same time, DND is committing to the future of our Burbach site with this ambitious infrastructure project with an investment volume of approximately three million Euros.

Dynamit Nobel Defence (DND) fields two distinct shoulder-fired weapon concepts: The RGW (Recoilless Grenade Weapon) system and the iconic Panzerfaust 3 family. Both concepts encompass a variety of Davis Gun principle, recoilless, shoulder-launched, single-soldier operated, disposable weapons for anti-tank, anti-structure and multipurpose uses. DND munitions are designed to be operated against a wide spectrum of targets and offer different firing modes for maximum flexibility.

DND developed the 60mm RGW 60 launcher for special operations, airborne and other light forces which require a compact, lightweight assault weapon. It can be fired from within an enclosure. A high muzzle velocity provides a flat trajectory, low dispersion and ‘good’ hit probability. The RGW 90, meanwhile, has a programmable warhead effective against targets up to 1,200m away. The RGW 110 extends the calibre of the RGW family – currently in 60 mm and 90 mm warhead variants – to a 110 mm calibre variant which, in its baseline offering, will be furnished with a high-explosive anti-tank/high-explosive squash head (HEAT/HESH ) warhead.
