Indonesian shipbuilder PT Lundin launched a video of Fast Attack Craft Trimaran for the Indonesian Navy. According to an Indonesian Navy statement, a fast attack craft has a total length (Loa) of 62.53 meters, a width of 16 meters, a ship height of 18.7 meters, and a weight of 245 tons. The maximum speed of 28 knots, cruising speed of 16 knots. The vessel is armed with a 30 mm cannon and 12.7 mm gun and is capable of carrying 25 crew members. The vessel is also able to be armed with up to eight NSM, C-705, Penguin, Exocet or RBS-15 MK3 anti-ship missiles in enclosed launchers and naval gun up to 76 mm caliber in stealthy turret without affecting the stability of the vessel. She also carried an 11 m high-speed rigid-hulled inflatable boat for the special forces team.

The Fast Attack Craft (FAC) employs a modern “Wave Piercing” trimaran design. This allows the vessel to cut through waves rather than rise up and over them, and the increased beam provides inherent stability. This combination of features reduces both pitching and rolling, creating a stable weapons platform, and enabling the vessel to comfortably and safely maintain higher average speeds in adverse conditions. The FAC has “Stealth” design characteristics, and incorporates features that minimize detection by reducing Radar, Infra-Red, Acoustic, and Magnetic signatures. Stealth properties are further improved as there are no reverse-angle bow overhangs to reflect radar signals, as seen on conventional hull forms.

KRI Golok (688) is the second vessel of the “X3K” type built by PT Lundin. The first one, KRI Klewang, was launched in August 2012. However, the first-in-class ship was destroyed a month later, following a fire that broke out during fitting out. KRI Golok (688) was named during an official ceremony at the shipyard in Banyuwangi (East Java) in presence of the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral Yudo Margono. A golok is a cutting tool, similar to a machete, that comes in many variations and is found throughout the Indonesian archipelago. It is used as an agricultural tool as well as a weapon. The golok style is noted for being the pattern for British Army-issue machetes used since the early 1950s.

PT Lundin Industry Invest is an international boat building company specialized in building craft for military, law enforcement, SAR, commercial, and high-performance applications. The company has a presence in Sweden, Singapore, and Indonesia, with its headquarters located at Banyuwangi, East Java, Indonesia. North Sea Boats was founded in 2003 by John and Lizza Lundin as a trading name for PT Lundin Industry Invest. Earlier this year, the shipbuilder also launched and started sea trials of another unique design: the X18 Combat Boat dubbed the Tank Boat. The various models incorporate “open architecture” deck plans that can be configured to perform multi-role tasks in a broad range of operational environments. They can be powered by inboard diesel engines, outboard motors, or by transom drives and waterjets.
