The Russian Navy Black Sea Fleet’s patrol ships Dmitry Rogachev (375) and Pavel Derzhavin (363) held artillery firings in the Black Sea along with the drills to detect and eliminate a notional enemy’s drones. At the first stage of the exercise, the crews of the patrol ships Dmitry Rogachev and Pavel Derzhavin practiced the detection and destruction of low-flying small-sized targets. Unmanned aerial vehicles in service with the Black Sea Fleet were involved in the role of an air enemy. Air defence crews of the ships detected unidentified targets, and the air defence systems were made ready for use. After identifying the objects, they were conditionally destroyed.
As an episode of the naval maneuvers, the Black Sea Fleet’s patrol ships’ crews practiced preparing a helipad for a helicopter to land on the deck. In the course of the drills, the fire-fighting teams practiced emergency measures in a helicopter-landing operation. In addition, they also installed passive near-range radar jamming. Upon completion of the exercise, the crews returned to the basing point of the Novorossiysk military naval base and began the activities carried out in accordance with the plan of activities of the naval forces of the Black Sea Fleet.
Project 22160 is a series of large patrol ships being constructed for the Russian Navy. The vessels are primarily intended for duties such as patrol, monitoring and protection in open and closed seas. Project 22160 patrol ships measure 91 meters in length, have a displacement of around 1,950 tonnes and are capable of reaching speeds of about 22,5 knots. The ship has a cruising range of 6,000 nmi at patrol speeds and an endurance of 60 days. The ship also has a helicopter deck and hangar for one Ka-27 or Ka-226 helicopter. The ship also carries a landing speedboat, and has provisions for drones, underwater unmanned craft and unmanned boats.
The class’s armament includes the Kalibr-NK cruise missile, aerosol camouflage, two grenade launchers and two 14,5mm heavy machine guns, a 76.2 mm dual-purpose naval gun (AK-176MA-01) and Igla man-portable air defense systems. The ships are also fitted with a telescopic hangar and helicopter deck with facilities for take-off and landing of the Ka-27PS type 12-ton rescue helicopter. It is optionally offered with one Club-N integrated missile system as well as one Shtil-1 air defence system with two 3S90E.1 modular launchers. The containers were envisaged to carry various weapons including sonars and torpedoes or anti-ship and cruise missiles.
